Electrolab Laboratory Fermenters

Electrolab Limited have supplied laboratory fermenters to Pfizer over a period of the last 12 years. To date we have a total of 130 5 Litre fermenters in our laboratories plus a further 24 vessels in our Central Research facility on site in Sandwich.

These fermenters are in regular, routine use for fermentation process development and culture screening, using industrial media with temperature, pH, DOT and agitation control. They are operated for extended periods, often for as long as 25 days continuously, and turn around time/wash up periods between experimental runs are kept to a minimum. The vessels are used very intensively.

The fermenters themselves have proven reliability and, with regular maintenance (as recommended by Electrolab) mechanical failures have been kept to a minimum. The age of the Electrolab fermenters which we have installed ranges from one to 12 years. The reliability of the 12 year old vessels is still extremely good.

Based on our good experience with this equipment in England, we have installed Electrolab fermenters in several other Pfizer locations around the world where they are giving good, reliable service.

We have always found Electrolab to be a good company to deal with; their approach is flexible and they have been keen to supply, and build, equipment specific to meet our needs and requirements.
